India Tourism Development Corporation (ITDC) conducted a workshop for the benefit of trade industry, officers and other stakeholders to sensitise them about the proposed Goods and Services Tax (GST): Model Law and procedures at The Ashok.The workshop was broadcasted live to all the subsidiary companies/vendors outside Delhi. The video and queries regarding GST would be uploaded on ITDC website to ease the interaction and resolve queries. The GST Regime which is on the verge of its implementation will mark a paradigm shift in the manner of levy and collection of indirect taxes in the country and is a watershed moment in the annals of tax reform.During the workshop, Pradip K Das, Director Finance and CFO, ITDC highlighted the proposed tax reform as a real game changer for expanding tax base, mobilise resources and also for minimising regional disparities since it enables predominantly consumer states to raise resources for developmental activities. Das gave a detailed overview of the GST, the structure of GST Regime and the roadmap ahead for all stakeholders.The GST consultants of ITDC in his inaugural address expressed that the country is on the threshold of change which is momentous and assured all stakeholders that all the concerns of trade and industry will be addressed to ensure smooth transition. They explained the various provisions of the model GST law and the implementation of the new GST law.The workshop was conducted on an interactive basis at the Ashok Hotel as well as at all the Business Units of ITDC and its subsidiaries. Delhi based vendors participated directly, however, the units and subsidiaries outside Delhi participated through webcast, where the solutions to queries and issue from the trade partners were provided and assured smooth adaptation of GST compliance.The workshop was attended by the senior officials of ITDC, representatives of various business partners and other stakeholders.
